Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Preview, Cheats, Secret, Cheat Codes, FAQ, Unlockables, Review, Walkthroughs, Guide for PS3/Xbox 360/PC

This year will certainly be very important for the Resident Evil saga with the recent notable Revelations Resident Evil for Nintendo 3DS, the announcement for the month of November the spectacular sixth installment, and between them, this Operation Raccoon City. A new way to understand the peculiar world of terror and action created by Capcom, because even in the fourth and fifth of the series has taken a turn toward action, this new title has surprised us by their frenetic and tons of enemies that we face. Developed by Slant Six Games Canadians, they had previously developed several installments of SOCOM, the tactical action series exclusive to Sony consoles. With this new title leave out the tactics and strategy and delivered completely cooperative action for up to four players directly, something we have already had occasion to prove, and as you can imagine, is much more fun to play along with three other people to do with the other characters controlled by artificial intelligence of the game. We were warned after its announcement in March last year, and even since then it had been proven on several occasions, but now with a beta in our possession in which we have overcome the first four missions, we have made a better idea what he proposes this new Resident Evil. It is action as we all knew, but his frenetic surprisingly, still barely a moment of respite, and delight lovers wildest action. Soldiers, zombies, hunters, lickers, zombie dogs, etc., the threats are endless, and take turns incordiarnos, because many times we will be fighting against both soldiers and with any of these terrifying creatures.

The action takes place in September 1998, in the unfortunate town of Raccoon City, before and during the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3. One of the great features of this game is that first we will side with the "bad" in the series, taking the role of one of the six soldiers of the Umbrella Security Services (USS), a group specifically called Los Lobos. When you start playing you have to choose one of six characters: Lupo- assault class, Spectre-monitoring, Vector-recognition, Bertha-medical, Four Eyes-scientific field and Beltway-demolition. These differ primarily in their abilities, as common weapons for all characters. In each character can unlock two and three active passive skills through experience points and buying before the mission. Then in addition, each of these skills can be improved up to three layers. For example Lupo, the leader of Los Lobos, counts as passive skills with body-armor reduces damage taken by 10% - and rapidly recharge reduced by 33% recharge speed, and as active abilities with incendiary charges - allows for ten seconds to make some shots that set fire to the enemies to death, to shoot an infinite number of bullets for ten seconds-and super-soldier cancels the next 3 attacks received and increases the damage done. So to start playing, we have to choose character, primary weapon, secondary weapon, and one of the three active abilities, if we have them unlocked.

The abilities of the characters are very different from each other and cover a wide range of playing styles, having a hard time deciding on one of them, each have very attractive features. For example Spectre has a proximity sensor, one for finding objects, both curative and ammunition such as collectable, there are several types-biothermal vision, sound vision and a threat detector. Vector has stealth and evasion skills, you can activate a camouflage that makes him invisible, and you can even convert and hold an enemy soldier. Bertha is the team doctor, and Four Eyes a kind of science, capable of infecting with the virus-T enemy soldiers, and even turn them into allies. Finally Beltway is an expert in explosives, and is capable of laying mines or trap fragmentation, and throwing plastic explosives. The campaign can be played either in private, inviting the players we want, as publicly, anyone can be joined to the game. If we are not connected to the internet or are not players, other team members, and we'll always accompanied by three other characters, will manage the game itself, with a somewhat questionable artificial intelligence. Therefore, it is the typical degree of cooperative action that enjoys playing with a lot more friends than doing it alone, and this will have to take into account those who plan to be with him, in a development that do nothing more to take down dozens of enemies, gain experience and unlock weapons and abilities.

The action starts in Umbrella laboratories in Raccoon City, with the scientist William Birkin who intends to sell the G virus, his latest work, the government of the United States, betraying the company he works for. The Umbrella Security Services (USS) have been sent to the lab to retrieve samples of the virus and stop Birkin, and here is when we take action, Los Lobos, the USS Delta team, who have to work with the Alpha team Hunk led to infiltrate the facility. These early stages will help us and make us learn to play with the controls, but the fact is that many will not have time to acclimatize, and within seconds we'll be embroiled in intense firefights. The control of any game is the third-person action that you may know, with sticks to move the character and camera, a trigger to focus, one for fire, a top button to fire grenades can take various forms: explosive incendiary stun-a button to interact, and one for physical attacks. The cover system works without the touch of a button, simply arrimarnos to a wall or object, and with a tap back we part, working very well. Overall, the control responds well, is fluid and intuitive, and will dominate all actions very quickly. In this class we will face only human soldiers, and well, the scientist William Birkin, who after being cornered the terrible virus is injected G, as you know the fans of the series. At this point we can not do anything but run away, because with a well-aimed blow can end our life. There is a small QTE-quick-time event, because after falling into the ground trying to hit us with an iron bar, and we have to shoot dodging, but the fact that these sequences are not usually repeat much, except when an enemy as a zombie or a dog catches us, we have to move back and forth repeatedly left stick to let go.

The missions consist of going from one side to another, destroying any evidence of a switch, pick up a key, but all they are still excuses to move around the stage fighting against hundreds of enemies. Due to the overflowing amounts of rivals and we have to fight monsters, it is curious that we often see with the problem of ammunition, so you constantly have to look and pick up enemy weapons. There are green grass, with which we heal immediately, and healing sprays, which we and those who can heal both ourselves and teammates. When a team member is killed, we can come together and revive him. We can also find some hidden items that serve to gain experience and unlock artwork in the gallery. It is the second mission when the virus-infected T has the whole city, with zombies taking the streets, an occurrence which are partly to blame, so they send us to the city council to eliminate all evidence related to Umbrella with the epidemic. Here things start to be more fun, with chaotic battles in which we are faced with soldiers and zombies, all together, and the final appearance of the star-lickers, a formidable enemy to scale walls, ceilings and grabs us with its long tongue, further complicating the situation. Something that brings a little more salt and pepper to the gameplay is the possibility of being infected by zombies, either because we grab and bite us or because we throw up his vomit. When this occurs, little by little we are feeling bad, your vision blurs, and we have to use a special spray to clear the infection. We can only carry one, and if we have already spent, when we have to look hopelessly infected one. It may happen that a teammate is infected, and we have to cure him. If we do not stop the infection in time, we will become a zombie, lose control of the character and begin to attack the allies.

In the third mission, we must visit the hospital in Raccoon City to destroy the survivors. Here is a new type of zombie, faster and able to run, so imagine what complicates everything, and if we were little, join the party the terrifying hunters. Zombies can grab and use as a shield, then run or throw the enemies and melee attacks not just to convince us, being a little vague and inaccurate, besides not being very well done physics of impacts. In the last mission of which I can speak, we have to go to a store and for that Umbrella visit several places of the city, from simple blocks to the cemetery. Our goal is at least curious, charismatic and fearsome reactivate the Nemesis, the enemy that we all suffer protagonist in Resident Evil 3. In these stores, with a hidden laboratory, which is formed is epic, with zombies, lickers, parasites, a Tyrant and a finale that Nemesis himself before we have to help "calm". Meets the technical correction but without brilliance, has merit as many enemies on the screen moves to maintain the kind-with a performance issue on time-but the textures are very modest, no outstanding graphical effects, and the atmosphere is too single-minded , black and dark tones in all settings, in a very dark game in general. Despite these, the charisma of the enemies of a beloved franchise is undeniable, and very well recreated, to highlight the dismemberment of zombies-and trod again the city that we enjoy in Resident Evil 2 and 3 is quite a terrifying pleasure.

Finally remark that although little is not going to be first-honor that belongs to the recently-Revelations, Operation Raccoon City will arrive fully dubbed into Castilian, and as in the Nintendo 3DS, very professional and rightly, though the voice of a particular character we love to finish. Electronic music and sugarcane, which many came to our attention the first time the game was, the truth is that the end is not so bad, and is well suited to the frantic gameplay as proposed in this atypical Resident Evil. If you feel like stepping back to the streets of Raccoon City and the charismatic creatures bite of the first installments of the saga, industrial tonnes, this is your game. Intense action, frenetic, which despite being a team of four elite soldiers, we will be overwhelmed by the many and varied threats that we face. Having a shootout with soldiers while we bother about zombies, lickers go lurking about, and that a hunter may appear at any time is great fun, and it will be if we got together with three friends to meet the challenge. It raises some doubts about its ability of fun playing alone, due to inefficient artificial intelligence of allies, and if so simple and straightforward that you propose, will not become a bit repetitive in the long run. But otherwise it's a game very honest, well executed, and that may satisfy those who want to relive some of the highlights of the series from the enemy viewpoint and gameplay with tons of action. On March 23, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC back to Raccoon City, start preparing your best weapons.
