Orcs Must Die! Review, Cheats, Secret, Cheat Codes, FAQ, Unlockables, Walkthroughs, Guide for Xbox 360/PS3
In Orcs Must Die! the players into the role of a magician's apprentice, which is transported past after the death of his teacher to his own surprise, as expected for the war mages. His job is to save the world from destruction is by defending the magic columns from the domination of the Orcs.
Unfortunately, all other war mages are no longer alive, and so is the player in the defense against the Orcs of the columns all on his own. That was even with the story. Develop along the lines of a classic tower defense game with Hack'n'Slash active elements, the player must now defend installations, set up his own war mage traps and break through the waves of orcs prevent stampeding.
Pros: As can be expected with such a simple gameplay of the story is no big jumps, the developers focused on the essentials, namely the design of the slit-defense. And so it is Robot Entertainment's actually managed to incorporate a high claim in the tactical game, not the reward only the same pattern of success. Instead, the player looks through the varied and challenging level design of Orcs Must Die! constantly faced with changing requirements.
The challenging but fair at the same level of difficulty and the fact that the game always keeps surprises like suddenly emerging bosses or enemy flying units available, provide a high replayability factor. In total there are 24 levels in the campaign to overcome, in about six to eight hours of game time to be. It also takes the game too seriously, but behaves very consistently self-deprecating. For example, some Orcs call in the face of death, desperate: "I'm really only half-orc," during the war mage own lists a victory dance after each completed level. Also the price of just € 14 is dimensioned fair, given the six to eight hours of entertainment.
Cons: As already mentioned, the developers lodged with Orcs Must Die! no great importance to the story that has really good ideas, which will be discussed but unfortunately no. This would certainly have been possible. The number of extras or alternative modes is compared with the Plants vs. competitors. Zombies and Defense Grid rather meager. In addition, although the graphics on a decent, but not moved to a contemporary level.
Overall: At first glance, like Orcs Must Die! a rather simple impression. But all the players who get involved on the title will be drawn directly into its spell, which is mainly due to the ingenious play mechanics. The tactical demands and challenging level of difficulty can make quickly forget the negative aspects and Orcs Must Die! a must for all fans of tower defense games.
