The Simpsons Arcade Game Review, Cheats, Secret, Cheat Codes, FAQ, Unlockables, Walkthroughs, Guide for PS3/Xbox 360

For many years, the consoles were sold under the slogan of "recreational home", always in reference to those arcade machines, flashy graphics in 2D systems and 3D 16 bits from 32 bits, polygons and show intense but brief. Now with the popularity of digital distribution and graphics machines capable of far more powerful than those three-dimensional systems of the 90's, surprisingly many of the most beloved releases are those from modest recreational technically. It's a great opportunity to relive those games where you had wasted tens, hundreds of coins after finishing college classes or high school. If on the contrary belong to the younger generation and that of Super Hang-on Mandarin Chinese sounds like you, retro classics are a lesson in history to discover where they come from the current releases. In the late 80's and early 90's, before the explosion that revolutionized the fight versus Street Fighter II, the most hit in the arcade halls were noisy beat 'em up side with Final Fight, Double Dragon and Street of Rage and best-known names. The idea of players thugs seedy streets was overexploited and appeared like mushrooms all kinds of clones with variants in the fantastic ambience Golden Axe or would be using licenses comic book, film or television as the main claim. Just in recent months have recovered games like X-Men and Ninja Turtles, with the review Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled, so I could not miss another classic of these cabins: The Simpsons Arcade, developed by Konami in 1991 in full fury of the most successful television family in those years - and what still remained to be seen!. For history will always be that was the first video game adaptation of The Simpsons, the first in a list that has not always been notable deliveries. We risk saying that the game at hand and The Simpsons Hit & Run is the most remembered of the yellow-skinned family.

The game used the same engine of that game Ninja Turtles, but all passed through the veneer of Matt Groening, starting with the recognizable recorded voices of original actors and stage the brilliant colors that reflect the locations visited and moments the first few seasons. The game had its adaptations, but surprisingly few, Commodore 64 and MS-DOS, so this is the first time through consoles. It does very late, but better late than never, and a final version that maintains almost all intact to the delight of purists but to the disappointment of those who expected much more than seen for 20 years. The argument presented to a handful of main characters and many secondary perfectly recognizable. It all begins when Smithers steals a diamond to Mr. Burns, but in full flight, and a turn of events, the diamond fell to Maggie, and thence to the mouth as a pacifier, which makes the selfless Smithers takes jewel and girl for the price of one. Bart, Homer, Lisa and Marge will embark on a chase through the city to retrieve Maggie, but not have it easy. Krustyland, a forest, Moe's Tavern, the study of KBBL and even a dream world some of these places are full of references to the early seasons, when the show was smart and funny in equal measure.

The gameplay is very simple. Hit and jump with your favorite family member and kill the followers of Burns. Nothing more... nothing less. Everyone has their way of attacking Homer with fists and kicks, skateboarding Bart, Lisa and Marge with a rope vacuuming. Movements less elegant than those made by Cody and Guy in Final Fight, but just as practical. A normal enemies will join them a head for each of the eight levels, including for example the fearsome bear camping chapter of The Simpsons, Konami invention assume that for the tastes of Japanese gamers. Although essentially the same as other games in the genre, with its missiles or weapons scattered around the stage, or curative health food, it is fair to say that included a novelty such as attacks by partners who differ controlled characters players. Also the scroll to the bottom is wide and sometimes with different heights, as happened in Golden Axe. He did not present anything revolutionary, but relied on what had been done to date with the titles that caused furor.

In addition to the continued fighting, has two mini-games based on mashing the buttons: one to inflate a balloon and a slap to the character. If you play with friends, more fun to compete for the highest score, otherwise players will controlled by artificial intelligence. No more mystery, but has a gift at the records. It will not take long to see the end of The Simpsons Arcade, because as all these adaptations from a recreational, duration is rather scarce. As a bonus we have the Japanese version, which differs from the Western new weapons, a small nuclear bombs that kill the enemies on-screen, possibility to increase overall vitality and a scoring system. If you were a fan of the game, you unlock this version slightly new to see subtle changes. Actually, at first sight is the same, but it is the perfect excuse to return to rejugarlo and certainly had not seen this version around for your living room arcade. As usual in the beat 'em up, the multiplayer was obligatory and which multiplies the fun. In this case supports up to four players, each with a cooperating to clean Simpson Springfield chavs, both locally and online. It is the great novelty of this version and perhaps the most interesting extra to buy the game even if you have it memorized-which is unlikely if your last game was 20 years ago. Playing at home is just as you imagine, but we have to say that we found annoying online lag-lag-that is cutting in the game, something a bit disappointing in a frantic mechanics in which accuracy is important. You can create headings by setting the stage to play, look for filters or throw directly to the rapid game in which you join another player without knowing where you are. Includes voice chat.

The other developments come as original artwork, sound and music galleries, which will appeal to the simpsons, and game modes would emphasize only targeted to complicate the situation, such as finishing the game with a single life, which we seems very complicated. The achievements and trophies system is another element indirectly to increase the replay value. Must see The Simpsons Arcade as a nostalgic purchase. Otherwise, it can be criticized in many respects, the main monotony inherent to the very short term and -30 or 40 minutes in the company and you have saved Maggie, in addition to price is too low -9, $10 or 800 Microsoft Points, 'with which you can buy most original and adapted to the times like Castle Crashers or Scott Pilgrim. That's true, but The Simpsons Arcade is not a bad game and has several points in its favor. The first is that it has not aged too badly in the charts thanks to the clean design inspired by the series, with great animation and gameplay less repetitive than other fighting titles cited above, must be borne in mind that this game from Konami is more modern than them. Also, unlike games in dangerous and dirty streets, The Simpsons Arcade is a constant parody of places and characters very memorable, it is inevitable that we remember the best time of the Simpsons. In one word: charisma. The game has personality and is fun if you do not look deeper to jump and kick playable without asking. The soundtrack is catchy in itself, with the unmistakable theme played by a few chips sound channels and digitized voices. It may be difficult to explain to the younger generation of players the magic of The Simpsons Arcade and some will not appreciate, but what was funny before it still is now. You can not expect much more than crush pad and try to dodge danger, something not always possible, as many arcade games, did receive some traps to avoid damage and almost impossible to spend more coins. However, it is an easy game to save a couple of situations, as the final enemy that lasts more than necessary, which makes the colors look together with a game that probably can enjoy smooth the youngest of the house, other classics over more violent and "ugly" as you can be a Street of Rage. That and the appeal of characters is always a point to consider.

Nor can we ignore that even with the good style of graphics, 288x224 resolution the game is not exactly the ideal to play on a big screen HDTV. Interestingly, there are both jagged edge that instead of grinding gives it a pixel art to charm, if you want you can soften a bit with the usual filter these collections retro-run decently at the expense of image blur and lose sharpness. However, we assume that the graphics are not what most strikes the game. Furthermore, Backbone Entertainment, responsible for the adaptation, has the minimum possible work and found the typical option of using a framework for simulating the recreational screen-this time without vinyl or anything that makes us feel special in front to the machine, with a 4:3 aspect ratio as the original. No graphics options CTR monitor type distortion or horizontal lines, the scanlines, which were present in other games like Final Fight Double Impact. The Simpsons Arcade game is a remarkable and relatively nice although the adaptation was very conservative. On the one hand we have a strong point that a game is not particularly well known, does not have a long string of conversions and if at the time you stay with the desire to give their due to Mr. Burns now you can do from the comfort of your home . But is weighted to the low content, the Japanese version is interesting but not entirely new game is another-and the short duration of it for a price that seems high. If you're a fan of the Simpsons, the genre or just want a good retro game, get it.
